FiveM stuck on "Loading add-on data files"

Fixable on your PC

The loading bar freezes while FiveM loads server content. Almost always a corrupted cache or antivirus blocking the files.

Why it happens

FiveM downloads each server's content into a local cache. If a download was interrupted, or your antivirus scans and locks files while FiveM reads them, loading stalls.

How to fix it

  1. Close FiveM completely.
  2. Open FiveM Application Data (right-click the FiveM shortcut > Open file location).
  3. Inside 'data', delete the 'cache', 'server-cache' and 'server-cache-priv' folders. Leave 'game-storage' alone if you want to avoid re-downloading the base game files.
  4. Add your FiveM folder to your antivirus exclusions (Bitdefender, Norton, and Avast are common culprits).
  5. Relaunch and reconnect. The first load will be slower while the cache rebuilds.

Still broken?

Try a different server. If only one server hangs, the problem is likely on their end — report it to their staff.
