FiveM: "Failed to connect to server after 3 attempts"
Fixable on your PCFailed to connect after 3 attempts
FiveM tried to reach the server three times and got no answer. Either the server is down or blocking you, or something on your PC or network is stopping the connection. Trying a second server tells you which.
Why it happens
When you click Connect, FiveM asks the server for its details before loading in. If the server is offline, restarting, or overloaded, or if your firewall, VPN, or DNS blocks the request, all three tries fail and you get this message.
How to fix it
- Try joining a different, popular server. If other servers work, the problem is that one server. Wait a few minutes and try again, or check its Discord for restart or outage notices.
- If no servers work: restart your PC and your router.
- Turn off any VPN or proxy and try again.
- Switch to a public DNS (for example 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8) in your network adapter settings.
- Make sure FiveM is allowed through Windows Firewall and your antivirus. Add your FiveM folder to the antivirus exclusions.
- Clear the FiveM cache folders ('cache', 'server-cache', 'server-cache-priv') and reconnect.
Still broken?
If only one server fails and it's online for other people, contact its staff with the time you tried. You may be blocked or rate-limited on their end.

Your copy of GTA V (or FiveM itself) doesn't match the game version the server is set to. Usually fixed by letting FiveM and GTA V update. If the server is the one that's behind, only its owners can fix it.
